A few years ago the Turkish military announced that they were going to switch from their licensed, locally-manufactured G3 Battle Rifles to a locally-licensed-manufactured version of the HK416. Then nothing further was heard or seen of it.
Well, according to a recent post on The Firearm Blog, it appears that the plan to adopt the HK416 variant was dropped because of dissatisfaction with the 5.56 x 45mm round. Instead, the Turks have opted to stay with the 7.62 x 51mm NATO round and have adopted the HK417 / AR-10 based Battle Rifle seen below.
