We’ve been very excited about this release ever since we first heard of it a couple of months ago. Samples are hard to come by though, so we’re grateful to our friends from Airsoft & MilSim News Blog for sharing a new video from Evike as Matt takes a close-up look at the EMG/ARES Airsoft Kel-Tec RDB17 Bullpup AEG. Read on, and check out the video link as well…
One of the most frequently highlighted issues with bullpup designs, concerns ambidexterity. Specifically, how can one swap the rifle from shoulder-to-shoulder without getting hot brass in the face after a round is fired and extracted? Kel-Tec’s entry into the bullpup world is a wonderfully innovative design, with such an obvious and ingenious solution that you have to wonder why no-one thought it it before. The RDB17 features a design which ejects the spent brass downwards out of the receiver behind the magazine well. This enables both left-handed and right-handed users a truly ambidextrous shooting experience, without getting hot brass in the face.
Airsofters of course don’t have to worry about getting brass in the face, but nonetheless the EMG/ARES Airsoft collaboration on the Kel-Tec RDB17 delivers a unique non-M4 AEG that offers many advantages and desirable features for airsoft use.
