According to an article published today on the German-language ‘Strategie & Technik’ blog, the German Armed Forces have had two new camouflage patterns added to their Flecktarn repertoire – a new 3-color snow camo pattern and a 6-color ‘multi-terrain’ pattern.
‘Strategie & Technik’ reports that the patterns were developed by the Wehrwissenschaftliche Institut für Werk- und Betriebsstoffe der Bundeswehr (WIWeB) and that research and development efforts on the new patterns began as far back as 2012.
Based on the well-known Flecktarn pattern geometry, the snow camo pattern uses white, grey and dark green colors; whereas the multi-terrain pattern uses light green, dark green, brown, beige, grey and off-white colors.
