After waiting an hour for the bus to show up, the SHOT Show Media Day’s afternoon session got off to a cold, windy start with a bang, a boom and a rat-a-tat-tat at the Boulder City Rifle and Pistol Club today.

The first thing that struck me as we drove up to the site was the sheer size of it spread out across the scrubland.

KRISS Vector .45 SMG: its an odd-looking weapon, and feels a bit odd to use – but it shoots well, and is very controllable for a .45 calibre firearm.

GSG’s .22 STG44 replica:  a wonderfully eccentric firearm, and a delight to shoot.

Kel-Tec .308 RFB: a really unique firearm that is light, very well balanced and very easy to control – plus it packs the knock-out punch of a .308 round.

Kel-Tec KSG (on the left): probably the most awesome shotgun on the market.  Its easy to see why Kel-Tec can’t keep up with the demand.

HK MR762A1 Long Rifle Package:  the name is a bit of a mouthful, but for the combination of precision German engineering with an AR style layout and .308 power – who care’s how long the name is?

IWI Tavor SAR: the undisputed star of the show for me – lightweight, very well balanced, well laid-out, very user friendly, and easy to shoot.  I love the Galil SAR, but I think I’ve just fallen in love with her younger cousin…

Saiga .308:  classic.

Tacticool AK74 type Sporter:  its amazing how much of a difference that muzzle break makes to the controllability of the rifle.
