Christmas is coming.  So, what better present to give yourself, or someone special, than a nice piece of artwork?

Even better if it depicts First Lieutenant Dick Winters and the dozen men he’d managed to gather after dropping in to Normandy on the night of 5/6 June 1944 as they readied themselves to eliminate a battery of four German 105mm Howitzers at Brécourt Manor. In a remarkable feat of tactics that would be studied and emulated for decades to come, Dick Winters and his tiny force destroyed not only the battery, but also the deadly machine-gun positions nearby.

Advance from Utah, by celebrated military artist Simon Smith, captures both the triumph and foreboding of the moment following this brilliant move: With the German positions smoldering behind them, Winters and his men gaze thoughtfully into the horizon and their next objective, realizing that for them the war is only beginning.

Using a unique blend of both traditional painting and digital techniques, artist Simon Smith’s method results in an unmistakable visual style which is a proud testament to his skill.

Every print in this historic new edition has been personally signed by ‘Easy Company’ veteran ‘WILD BILL’ GUARNERE who took part in the assault at Brécourt Manor, and by Emmy Award winning Actor DAMIAN LEWIS who portrayed Dick Winters in the acclaimed HBO mini-series “Band of Brothers”.

This edition is issued by the Military Gallery in conjunction with the WWII Foundation to support the Richard D. Winters monument at Sainte-Marie-du-Mont close to Utah Beach in Normandy, and to raise funds for the Richard D. Winters Learning Program.

This outstanding release will directly benefit such a special cause and Aces High is honored to help support it.
